Nature Based Dog Training

Because Life is Best Lived Outdoors

Adventures in Adolescence - Coming Summer 2024

We get so many inquiries from clients struggling to manage, tire, and fulfill their willful adolescent pups. This can be both a challenging but fun life stage, and a time when pet parents can use a supportive community to get through.

We love a rambunctious teenager and are excited to offer a comprehensive, nature-based blended training program tailored just for them!

Our philosophy is based in the science of behavior modification, using methods proven to be the most humane, effective, and long lasting. We train without the use of harsh or intimidating tools and corrections.

Instead, we focus on understanding how dogs learn and communicate, building a relationship, and teaching them new behaviors in a fun and rewarding way!  Each dog is unique and training is never a one-size-fits-all fix. We tailor training to work with your dog’s unique motivators and learning style to ensure you get results you AND your dog love.

We follow the CCPDT’s Code of Ethics, which ensures that all dogs (and people!) under our care are treated with respect and kindness.

Kelly is the founder of A Dog’s Life and also a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA). She has worked professionally with dogs since 2005, learning and developing training skills essential to successful off leash hikes! Over the years Kelly built up a solid foundation in the training and behavior of dogs, especially in off-leash, distraction-heavy environments.

Together with her pup, Aurora, Kelly is overseeing the training program, offering limited in-person private lessons, and creating content for future courses!

  • Morgan McMurdy, CPDT-KA

Morgan is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) who mainly handles virtual training and content creation. She has been working with dogs since 2014, specializing in behavior modification, sport and puppy foundations, and basic obedience.

“In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn’t merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.”  – Edward Hoagland
